New and Pre-Owned Calfee Bamboo Frames — Repaired, Reinforced, and Ready to Ride

As we prepare for the next chapter of our bamboo bike journey, we’re offering a limited number of vintage Calfee bamboo frames for sale. Proceeds will help support Craig’s upcoming trips to Africa and the development of our next-generation cargo bike; built for transport, utility, and sustainability.

The frames with carbon lugs are from the first generation of frames built by Calfee before we switched to hemp fiber wrapping. We were worried that the bamboo would separate from the carbon over time so it was a "soft recall". They sat in boxes high on a shelf for around 15 years. When we recently moved the shop, we had a close look at them and found no separation on any of the joints. Some frames had been returned under warranty due to structural or cosmetic issues and have since been carefully repaired and reinforced by our team. While no longer factory-new, they are structurally sound, ride-ready, and full of character.

Please note that there are a select number of frames that are considered "Art Only" These are marked as such. While beautiful they are not intended to be ridden.

Frames are sold as-is, but we can refinish, re-decal, and prep them for assembly at an additional cost.

This is a rare opportunity for riders who missed out the first time, or for collectors looking to add a unique statement bike to their stable. Each frame is one-of-a-kind, and availability is limited.
