Second Life Warranty Transfer

Calfee Design has recently seen more frames being passed to new owners for a second life. While we are thrilled that this is mainly a result of people buying their second Calfee frame, we are still very committed to rider satisfaction and product quality of the original frame. Therefore, in order to ensure new Calfee owners enjoy our products as much as the original owners, the Second Life Warranty Transfer Policy allows us to provide this satisfaction by fully inspecting all “second life” frames for structural integrity. For a nominal fee, we are able to transfer the Calfee Design warranty to the new owner, which provides both increased purchase satisfaction and peace of mind.

When you have found a buyer for your original frame, or if you have already bought a used Calfee frame, complete and sign the Warranty Transfer form. Carefully pack and send the disassembled frame-set (frame and fork) along with completed Second Life Warranty Form to Calfee Design. We will perform an inspection of the frame only, specifically looking for any structural damage which could compromise ride quality or rider safety. We will perform any repairs which are covered under warranty at no additional charge and notify you of any non-warranty structural repairs which will be repaired at owner’s expense.

After the frame is deemed ready to transfer, the “Second Life” owner receives the remainder of the original warranty duration. (For example, if a frame has a 25-year warranty at the date of purchase, a frame sold after ten years has a remaining warranty term of fifteen years.)

Additional Terms and Conditions: Bamboo frames are not eligible for warranty transfer.  Owner is responsible for any damage incurred in shipping to Calfee Design, shipping expenses to and from Calfee Design as well as warranty transfer fee of $250. Calfee ships all frames FedEx Ground, unless otherwise agreed (Calfee Design is not responsible for international duties, taxes, or customs fees). We accept, inspect and transfer warranty for Calfee frames only, no forks. By sending frame to Calfee Design, frame owner is automatically responsible for any additional costs to repair non-warranty structural damage. Calfee Design will not release frames that are considered structurally compromised. Calfee will not release frames that are reported to have been stolen. Warranty term is based on original owner’s purchase date of bicycle as recorded on retail receipt proof of purchase or Calfee Design’s records of the original frame sale to the bicycle shop, if the retail receipt cannot be supplied. Cosmetic repairs may be repaired for an additional fee. Terms and conditions subject to change without notice.

Limited Warranty Policy:
Tandem, Manta, Dragonfly, Tetra, Luna & Bamboo

Calfee Design warrants to the original registered owner that its products are free of manufacturer’s defects for a period of 25 years for the Manta, Dragonfly, and Tetra models, and 10 years for the Luna and Bamboo from the original date of purchase. If Calfee Design determines a product defective, Calfee Design will, at its sole option, either repair or replace the product free of charge. All build-up/break-down labor and shipping costs will be the sole responsibility of the owner. In order to obtain service under the Calfee Design limited product warranty, the product must be returned to an Authorized Calfee Design Dealer, or Calfee Design directly, along with the original bill of sale. All frames must be completely disassembled before being returned to Calfee Design. This warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear, defects or failures resulting from abuse, neglect, accidents, improper maintenance, or unauthorized modification.

Under no circumstances shall Calfee Design be liable for any damages or injuries incurred by the use of its product.This includes, but is not limited to: lost profits, lost savings, and incidental or consequential damages or injuries arising from the use of, or inability to use this product. The limited warranty set forth in this agreement may not be extended or modified by any Calfee Design Dealer, Agent or Employee. Calfee Design does not assume any liability or make any warranty except as stated in this limited warranty. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights depending on your state. Some states do not allow limitations on the duration of implied warranties, or the limitation or exclusion of incidental or consequential damages; therefore, the limitations and exclusions set forth in this warranty may not apply to you.
