Bamboo frames ride smooth. The material naturally dampens vibration and road chatter, delivering comfort that rivals or beats stiffer materials, making this a responsive without being harsh ride. This frame traces back to the very beginning of Craig Calfee's work with bamboo bicycles. This one is the 20th bamboo frame he built.
The wood tells the story. Darker tones ranging from coffee to light amber create a frame that's as much art piece as bike. It's been repaired on the top tube and in a few other places. The splitting is enough that this is art only, not a rideable frame. A piece from the genesis of modern bamboo bikes.
Straight 1 1/8" head tube, BSA bottom bracket, 130mm rear spacing, rim brakes. 27.2mm seatpost. Carbon fiber reinforcement at the joints. Cable stops molded into the wrappings.
Suitable for restoration with late 90's components for a museum piece.
